To the Families of the Cypress Stake:

Can you believe it, the Christmas season is just around the corner? December is a special time to commemorate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. This December, we also conclude our year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of this great Stake of Zion.

We begin the Holiday season on Saturday, December 2, 2006, and are pleased to present, “CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD featuring the Southern California Mormon Choir.” We invite your family (and guests) to view the Cypress Stake Center filled with beautiful Christmas decorations and displays from around the world.

The schedule of events (don’t forget to bring your appetite & your international palette) are as follows:

4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. -- Christmas Around the World Displays
4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. -- Children’s International Holiday Craft
4:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. -- Holiday Foods From Around the World
4:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. -- Entertainment from Around the Stake
6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. -- Gather for the Christmas Concert
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. -- Free Christmas Concert & Program

Just before the Christmas concert begins enjoy the Bishop’s Christmas Waltz (yes, they can dance). The Southern California Mormon Choir will then entertain you, inspire you, have you tapping your feet, and then invite you to sing along.

The next day, on Sunday, December 3, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., bring the whole family to enjoy the entire “First Presidency Christmas Devotional” over the Church satellite system. With three screens to view the broadcast, there won’t be a bad seat in the Cypress Stake Center.

This year, Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, so we have determined to combine wards and hold joint Sacrament meetings only that day. Cypress 1st & 2nd Wards will combine at the C.S.C. (at 10:00 a.m.). Cypress 4th and 5th Wards will combine at the O.A.B. (also at 10:00 a.m.). Buena Park and Cypress Park Wards will combine at the C.A.B. (at 12:30 p.m.).

We will again host a multi-stake youth “New Year’s Eve, Eve Party” (that’s because New Year’s Eve falls on a Sunday this year). All youth, 14 years and older (and their guests), from the Cerritos, Cypress, Garden Grove & Long Beach East Stakes are invited to the Cypress Stake Center on Saturday, December 30, 2006, starting at 9:00 p.m., for an evening of dancing, activities, food, and fun.

Watch for the flyers that will give you all the details. Each event is a fellowshipping activity suitable for friends, neighbors, and your invited guests (members or non-members alike). We look forward to greeting one and all!
