Christmas 2008 Programs & Activities

THE CHURCH OF

JESUS CHRIST

OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

CYPRESS CALIFORNIA STAKE

To the Families of the Cypress Stake:

Can you believe that another year is rapidly drawing to a close! We invite you, your family, your friends, neighbors, and guests to participate in the
Cypress Stake Christmas programs and activities.

This year, we will have the added pleasure of hosting the only Southern California visit of Mark Mabry's magnificent exhibition entitled
"Reflections of Christ, a Fine Art Photography Exhibit." For a "sneak preview" of what you will see up close and in person, visit either (or both) WWW.REFLECTIONSOFCHRIST.ORG. or Deseret Book [ldsliving@ldsliving.net].

Included with this invitation is a two-side flyer (which we hope you will post in a prominent location on the family refrigerator) detailing our Christmas activities, the times and location of each activity, and those who are invited to attend. This Christmas season will be
particularly appropriate for friends, neighbors, and your guests, because each of our events will focus on the birth and life of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Stake Center will be festively decorated for the Christmas season, and the dramatic exhibition
"Reflections of Christ" will occupy the north end of the Stake Center. This exhibition will open for tours from Friday, December 5, 2008 through Tuesday, December 9, 2008, during the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. nightly (except for the evening of the Stake Christmas Program). We are pleased that Mark Mabry will attend the Friday debut of his exhibition and personally introduce the photographs to us.

The Young Women, High Council, and Relief Society Rooms will serve as "hosting centers" prior to each tour (complete with an introduction to the making of the exhibit). Each leisurely tour concludes in the Cultural Hall which will be an inviting, warm, and comfortable Christmas gathering place, complete with live Christmas music (by various musicians from the Stake) and with refreshments for all.

We will continue our traditional evening of beautiful Christmas music, provided by Stake Choirs, combined with messages from the First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional, in
"Behold Your King 2008, A Joyous Christmas Celebration in Music & the Spoken Word." The doors of the Stake Center will open Sunday December 7, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. The program and devotional will start at 7:00 p.m. Again, this wonderful evening is suitable for the entire family, friends, neighbors & your invited guests.

Given the times in which we find ourselves, it is truly a blessing to enjoy a season every year to remember the "King of Kings" and the "Lord of Lords."
"Oh, come let us adore Him" and enjoy the Christmas Holidays together!

Dear Ones in Our Beloved Cypress Stake,
Oh, how we wish we could be there to see this wonderful Christmas Event. Would love to see Brother Mabry and his pictures. I am familiar with it as I saw news of it on the Internet while he was producing it. The whole event will be inspiring as is everything that you7 do down there.
Joe and I want to thank all of you for your fiendship and love through the years. We love you.
We are hosting the Nativity Festival here in our Green Valley Stake here in St. George on the 12th and 13th of December which is a marvelous event in which I have a minor part.
Thank you also, for your brave and tireless work on Prop. 8. What a work of love and faith. We love you and we appreciate you more than you know.
Have a marvelous Christmas celebration. It is mare and more important that we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
Sincerely, Guelda Gates
